He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 3, 1978 as an Administrative Officer after transferring from the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade yesterday described Ambassador Mwedzi as “a hard-working leader, known for his dedication to duty, diligence and patriotism to the motherland, who selflessly served the ministry both at head office and abroad.”

Ambassador Mwedzi served as a Counsellor at the Zimbabwe High Commission in Lagos, Nigeria from 1982 to 1984, and the Zimbabwe Embassy in Yugoslavia from 1984 to 1986.

Thereafter, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative at the Zimbabwe Mission in Geneva from 1989 to 1990.
