Oliver Mtukudzi will bid his fans farewell at a show at Harare International Conference Centre on December 31 ahead of his tour of the United States. Mtukudzi’s next show in the country would be on April 4, 2014.The superstar, who recently announced that he would take a four-month sabbatical from local shows next year, said the New Year’s Eve show would be his farewell party.

Organisers of the show said they would ensure the event would not be a mere show and would have all ingredients of a party as fans bless their icon before he ventures into a foreign land.

The show is also expected to be a good year-ender for other musicians like Jah Prayzah and Douglas Chimbetu that would share the stage with Mtukudzi.

Mtukudzi’s manager Sam Mataure said they would go for a tour of the United States early next year while the superstar will have a few personal commitments to take care of when he takes a breather.

“We will tour the US early next year and we are happy to have a chance to usher our local fans into 2014 in a New Year ’s Eve show,” he said.

“We will say thank you to our fans for a successful year but we will also plead with them to be patient as we take a long break from local shows in the first months.

“We love our local fans so much but there are always calls for our fans from abroad for us to stage shows in their countries.

“We will respond to those calls but we will never forget our local fans because home is best.”

Mtukudzi had numerous international tours this year but made sure to keep his local fans served through an array of shows, most of which were outreach gigs.
