Sungura outfit, Extra Kwazvose – also known as The Rebels – launched their second album “Zvepasi Rino” at Private Lounge on Wednesday night. The launch was graced by a number of artistes who came to support the sungura ensemble who seem to be striking the right chords in establishing themselves as a force to reckon with if their performance on Wednesday night was anything to go by.

Some of the artistes that gave their support to the band during the launch include Suluman Chimbetu and part of his crew, Progress Chipfumo, Mabla 10, Shiga Shiga, the Dembo brothers Tendai and Morgan as well as Jacob Moyana

Speaking at the launch, assistant director of National Arts Council Audrey Charamba said there was need for artistes to support each other as well as work together for the development of the arts.

“I am very happy to see a large turnout especially from the artistes themselves. It is a very encouraging thing to see so many artistes coming out to support their own and I believe we should keep it up and keep on supporting each other for the development of the arts industry,” she said.

Charamba also took the opportunity to congratulate Extra Kwazvose for managing to withstand the heat and soldiering on.

“I also want to congratulate Extra Kwazvose for managing to come up with yet another album to add to their name.

“I would also want to urge promoters to help all the artistes in their endeavours,” she said.

The lead members of the group previously worked with Alick Macheso. Macheso is said to have sent them a congratulatory message although his manager William Tsandukwa said he was unaware of such communication.

The seven track “Zvepasi Rino” was auctioned at the launch and managed to fetch a decent $1 100 courtesy of a couple who identified themselves as Mr. and Mrs. Junkyard.

“Zvepasi Rino” came following their first one “Ndizvo Zviripo” which was released in July last year.

The group also took the opportunity to officially introduce a new dance which they have dubbed the Sando dance.

There were also performances from Tendai Dembo and Jacob Moyana.

Some of the celebrated figures who graced the event include Misheck Gava, promoters Patson Chimbodza and Josh Hozheri, and Reggie Munhenzva amongst many others.
