Hundreds of students from Eaglesvale Senior School held a peace march around the school premises in Harare to commemorate the Day of the African Child on Tuesday June 16. The march was held under the theme “Stop Xenophobic attacks on children” and was complimented by its sister schools in South Africa and in the UK who held similar marches joining other schools who observed the day around the country.

The event led by the Connecting Classroom Club also saw students from the school giving speeches on stopping “Child marriages” and protecting both boys and girls in and outside the school.

As measures to promote and advocate for child rights, the Eaglesvale has introduced child rights lectures into its curriculum. Every Monday the school invites a guest to lecture on biblical principles and what is expected from every school child.

Miss Harare Junior Takudzwa Gonde was among the students who took part in the peaceful march. – Cool Writer.
