Local promoters Devine Assignments are working with some partners to have the yesteryear duo of Rangarirai Sagombeto and Kelvin Chikore record some songs together and bring back memories of the of R&K African Sounds.

Sagombeto and Chokore worked together at the turn of the millennium when they released the hit “Tina” that introduced them to local showbiz in a big way.

The two separated due to various differences and their brief reunion failed to bring back their good old days.

Sagombeto is now based in Beitbridge while Chikore is living in Cape Town. Although they are pursuing other ventures outside music, their love for the art has not subsided.

Sagombeto is currently in studio working on a new album that he expects to release next month. Devine Assignments and Kadoma-based promoter Cossy Rules are supporting Sagombeto to come up with his new album that is expected to feature duets with Chikore.

Dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu has also chipped in and availed his studio for free for the project. Sulu will also have a duet with Sagombeto on the upcoming album.

In an interview this week, Sagombeto said Chikore had agreed to come for two duets that will be on his album as they seek to revive memories of R&K African Sounds.

“I talked to Kevy and he is coming next month for the studio sessions. He also wants people to have a feel of what we did during the days of ‘Tina’. It will be a good time to go down memory lane,” said Sagombeto.

“I am also working with Sulu on a collaboration and I want to thank him for unveiling his studio for my album. He is a good guy.”

Coordinator of the project Joe “Local” Nyamungoma said they are happy to bring together Sagombeto and Chikore.

“As Devine Assignments, we are happy to lead the way in bringing the two in studio together. We are looking forward to a good album from Sagombeto. It will have several collaborations,” said Nyamungoma.
