CHRISTIANS under the banner Tehillar Christian Network, have joined the nation in condemning the behaviour of some citizens that indulge in criminal activities and abuse the name of the First Family when their deals backfire.

They said such behaviour should be guarded against and, if possible, lawmakers should put in place legislation to protect the reputation of the country’s leaders.

Tehillar Christian Network founder Reverend Sam Ngaware Malunga said as a Christians they condemn such acts.

“Clergymen under the banner of the Tehillar Christian Network call on Zimbabweans to guard against some elements in society bent on denigrating, depicting and tarnishing Government and the First Family. This uncouth behaviour contradicts oracles and statutes of religion and it undermines our cultural norms of Ubuntu-hunhu.

“The First Family has unequivocally offered humanitarian assistance to society and has broken records for serving the nation through the Angel of Hope Foundation. As churches, we commend and applaud the First Lady for leading by example. Indeed, the First Family set the tone and are models to society in good works,” he said.

Rev Malunga added that acts of character assassination against Government officials should be condemned in the strongest terms, adding that community institutions have the moral obligation to inculcate moral aptitude against such uncultured behaviour of gross disrespect for those in positions of authority.
