Traditional leaders here have commended the new administration for creating a level playing field that has seen most political parties going about their business and campaigns in a peaceful and conducive environment.

The traditional leaders said in separate interviews that the prevailing peace ahead of this year’s elections on July 30 was being witnessed for the first time since Zimbabwe gained independence in 1980.

Chief Gambiza of Chiwundura said the election environment was so calm and peaceful that this year’s election would go down in the history books of the country.

“We should applaud the new administration for the good job,” he said.

“Our President (Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa) has sowed the seeds of love and peace. He has taken every opportunity to preach peace.”
