PUPILS at Borrowdale Brooke Academy, a private school in Harare, were overwhelmed when the school closed for the holidays on Thursday with a hectic consultative programme attended by parents and guardians. The day was marked by pomp and zest as the pupils were outside having fun in the sun, waiting for their parents.
Somewhere in the classrooms the teachers were busy talking to parents on their children’s progress during the course of the term.
On arrival, the parents were ushered in by some senior pupils at the school to the venues where the consultations were held.
For the primary pupils, they had their consultations in the library while the senior pupils had theirs upstairs in one of the                                          classrooms.
Also present to welcome the parents where director of the academy Ian Henney and managing director Catherine Henney.
As they say, nothing succeeds like success, the consultation was meant to give parents, teachers and pupils a time to reflect on their work, where they are going wrong and where they are doing well.
Nowadays, it is really about a combined effort that includes children, parents and teachers who see to it that the children remain focused on their school work.
Another aspect of the consultations was to re-energise pupils so that as they go for holidays, they remember to revise their work as well as holiday work.
But the highlight of the day was when parents got their children’s mid-term results. Well for parents whose children did well in school they were all smiles while others were almost in tears.
However, hope is not lost because there is the third term coming. The holiday is upon us and all it well that ends well.
