Local hip hop artiste, Synik in partnership with Pariah State Lounge and wine bar will tomorrow host the inaugural Hip-hop Power Nites, a monthly event that is aimed at growing the local hip hop movement.
The show that will be held at held at the Pariah State in Avondale will see a combination of live band performances with deejays to give hip-hop fans a dosage of good Zimbabwean hip hop.

“For the nostalgic, the band plays covers of some of the hip-hop and rhythm and blues from the golden era of the 90s. A featured artiste will also perform before paving way to the deejay session which will go on to end of every night,” said the organisers in a presser. This event will also expose local hip hop artistes and their music as they barely get air play on local radio according to the organisers.

It will also be made a platform for networking for rappers, deejays, fans and other stakeholders.

“We want to bring together hip hop practitioners in direct contact with fans thereby creating dialogue. We want to ensure that local artistes will be relevant and remain motivated to do their art. It helps if they get feedback needed for them to grow their art and the industry,” they said.

For the inaugural edition this Saturday, the resident band will be fronted by multi-talented musician Kito who will celebrate the late United States iconic lyricists, The Notorious BIG.

The featured artiste for this month is the MC Synik, whose album SynCity has been dubbed a classic by some and won him awards on its release.

Popular deejays Naida and Modern Isis will be on the decks to ensure that the party continues long after the live performances have ended.
