Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest amongst them all? This question will be answered when a bevy of 11 beauties battle it out for the prestigious title of Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe (Bofoz) tomorrow at Zimbali Gardens, Harare.

The event which is running under the theme “All eyes on me”, will also see Zimdancehall star Winky D and DJ Stavo as headline acts among others. According to the organisers of the show, the event is a red carpet affair, meaning that patrons and guests are expected to be in their designer garments and tuxedos. In an interview, Bofoz spokesperson Tanaka Ngorora said all is set for the event.

“We are in the last huddle with rehearsals taking place and we are encouraging people to come in their numbers and witness this mega event as we celebrate African beauty. It is a red carpet affair and just like what they do it in Hollywood, we want to bring it closer home. We expect everyone to be in black tie dress code and tickets are selling fast,” he said.

Ngorora said this year’s winner will walk away with cash prize and beauty products.

“This year’s our queen will pocket $5 000 and Black Opal beauty products apart from being our ambassador. First and second princesses will walk away richer with $3 000 and $2 000 respectively,” he said.

This event comes at a time when the company is rebranding its cosmetics from Black Opal to BLK/OPL and launched some new products. Some of the new products include a range of lipsticks and make-up foundations such as the Ultra-Matte foundation powder with a versatile wet and dry formula, pole compact foundation and colour spurge lipsticks.

Last year the event saw the 30-year-old Hazvineyi Chiota,a law student with University of South Africa being crowned overall winner at Glamis Arena.
