R&B sensation Audius Mutawarira has made a comeback on the local music scene with a brand new single titled “My Zimbabwean Girl”. The single that is taken off his upcoming fifth album presents a whole new Audius who seems to have hit the right cords as he has added a fresh hip hop feel to it.
“The song was inspired by pure patriotism. I love my country and all that is possess. I have dedicated songs to mothers and fathers. Then I figured, why not talk about the independent Zimbabwean girl and her beauty, strength and will,” he said.

The musician-cum-farmer who resurfaced onto the scene a few years ago has an equally stunning video that was shot in Harare.

“The new style is an exhibition of the different music I was exposed to in my work as a producer and songwriter in Australia. I wanted to expose my fans to diversity that they probably didn’t know I had,” he said about the raw r n’ b song.

While there has been an rave reviews of the song on social media since its release two weeks ago, Audius said he has not abandoned his trademark sound as it makes up the rest of the songs on the album.

“I stayed true to my brand in other songs on the album like Chete and Maruva Enyika. The music industry evolves so instead of becoming dated, artistes are at liberty to evolve with the times and stay current,” he said.

Audios is set to conduct promotional interviews on various regional stations in an effort to gain mileage for the album beyond the country’s borders.

He however criticised locals for looking down upon their own.

“When you are out there and say you are from Africa, it helps in your endeavours. Internationally they believe Africa is authentic and talented,” he said.
