All is set for the Harare International Food and Music Festival to be held at Borrowdale Racecourse from April 29 to May 1. A number of big names in the entertainment industry are set to perform and these include Oliver Mtukudzi, Baba naMai Charamba, Mokoomba, Michael Mahendere and Probeatz among others. In an interview, organisers of the event Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation marketing executive Tinashe Kitchen said the festival is set to be one of the biggest events of the year.

“Everything is going on well in terms of the preparations and we are promising one of the best entertainment events for this year with a major line-up in terms of music. We are urging people to come in their numbers and enjoy one of the best festivals ever,” he said.

“Music and food go a long way in defining a people’s culture and life style. These two cannot be isolated if one is to speak of a certain society. Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation, developed a concept for an event set in order to entertain, empower, market and educate our local artists and those operating in the food sector and the targeted audience,” he said.

He also highlighted that they have partnered with some health organizations since the event also seeks to educate artistes and everyone present on health issues.

“The event seeks to further promote a healthy life through dissemination of essential information from professional personnel in the music and food sector.

“As a result of this line of thought and the zeal to see this vision being realised, the ‘Harare International Food and Music Festival’ was born,” he said.

The festival will see stakeholders in the food industry exhibiting their wares and products while many other artistes from different musical genres will perform.
