Preparations for award-winning choral group Zimpraise’s first ever “Hymns Concert” are at an advanced stage.

The concert, which will be a live DVD recording, will be held this Sunday at the Rainbow Towers.

Last year the choral group recorded a live DVD album entitled “Revelation”, which features gospel music granddad Mechanic Manyeruke, Mahendere Brothers and new kids on the block, Zimpraise Kid.

Zimpraise public relations officer Tendai Zhou said he was happy with how preparations are going so far.

“We are now at advanced stage and happy with how rehearsals are going so far. We have been having our rehearsals since February and the choir is ready and everything is set for our ‘Hymns Concert’. We are also going to have some surprise guest artistes on the night,” he said.

He said the songs are from different churches, but they have produced their own rendition.

“The songs will come from different churches since we are an interdenominational group. Hymnals have an effect of lifting our spirits and giving people courage. We noticed the fact that the singing of hymns goes across denominations and promotes unity among all believers,” he said.

Zhou said they will also exhibit some of the new choreographic acts.

“We have also prepared some dance routines that will ignite and wow the crowd.

“As you know, some of the hymn most people sing at church go along with certain dances but we have noticed some are shy to dance and we will show them the way,” he said.

Zhou said fans can feel free to bring their church hymn books so as to sing along.

“Some of the songs include ‘Ngatimukudzei Mwari’, ‘Mwari Muri Zuva Redu’, ‘What a friend we have in Jesus’, which have already been selected and they have been popularised especially in the Methodist churches,” he said.
