Police Junior Call in Chitungwiza last week applauded the move by their seniors to launch the anti-sexual campaign in the dormitory town after the town recorded an increase of 42 percent cases of sexual abuse. The launch was officially launched at Zengeza 2 shopping centre in Chitungwiza and was attended by various stakeholders, the community and school children.

Some members of the Junior Call said the move will help reduce and eradicate sexual violence towards women and girls. Edison Kawanzuwa (14), said as a Junior Call was taught a lot of things including arresting offenders and dealing with complaints.

“We would like to thank our senior police officers for instilling skills in us as they help the community in curbing crimes.
“Ever since I joined the Junior Call, I was trained on how to arrest a thief, make a police report as soon I discovered an offence and helping my peers to know the law better,” he said.

“We did poems, drills and drama all in an effort to sensitise the public on the dangers of sexual abuse and their reparations. We have learnt that child abuse should be eradicated in the society and perpetrators should face the wrath of the law,” said Petronella Chinofura, a Form Two student at Seke 2 High. – CL Reporter
