More than 800 villagers in the Sese area of Chivi have over the past few days received their Covid-19 vaccination jabs after Mashwede Holdings offered to transport nursing personnel for the exercise.

This has made life easier for villagers in Sese and surrounding areas, especially the elderly who were facing difficulties in travelling to far away areas for the jabs.

Mashwede Holdings founder Mr Alex Mashamhanda said the move was inspired by the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others and rallied other Zimbabweans to complement Government efforts to fight the Covid-19 scourge.

Ward 20 Councillor in Chivi Aleck Nhundu paid tribute to Mashwede Holdings, saying the number of people inoculated against Covid-19 had surged in Sese because of the firm’s helping hand.

Masvingo provincial medical director Dr Amadeous Shamu said vaccination in remote rural areas was being hampered by transport challenges, and praised Mashwede Holdings for the gesture.

Dr Shamu said the example set by Mashwede Holdings in Sese augured well for the fight to contain the spread of the virus as the nation angles for herd immunity.
