Zaka Central legislator Cde Paradzai Chakona has launched an Information Communication and Technology centre at Zaka High School, as part of his development efforts in the constituency.

Cde Chakona also donated computers to the school.

The legislator was instrumental in the construction of the information centre block at the school.

Speaking during the official opening of the centre, Cde Chakona said the new ICT centre was aimed at helping learners and was expected to enhance Internet technology in Zimbabwe.

“ICT skills are necessary in the modern society despite of us being in the rural areas. I hope the new facilities will add great value to the education of children and youths in Zaka.

“Technology has become a springboard of development worldwide and it has become a pre-requisite for all young people in the job market,” he said.

The new technology centre has the capacity of serving 30 students at a time and has separate state-of-the-art Internet access points.

The introduction of technology in rural areas goes a long way in bridging the gap between rural and urban schools while introducing new concept of e-Learning to the new education curriculum.
