A Harare man yesterday told the court that  his wife “looted” all their matrimonial property while he was away at work in Chiredzi.
Kudzai Maranga claimed that his wife Flora Mukwerere hired thugs to “loot” from their matrimonial home.This emerged at the Harare Civil Court where Mukwerere was seeking a protection order against Maranga whom she said was in the habit of verbally and physically abusing her over petty issues.

“I had to flee from our matrimonial home because Maranga was in the habit of physically and verbally abusing me each and every day over petty issues,” she said.

Mukwerere said Maranga was in the habit of visiting her workplace insulting her in front of her workmates.

“I want him barred from visiting my workplace because he embarrasses me in front of my workmates,” she said.

Maranga denied the allegations saying Mukwerere was just seeking a protection order to prevent him reclaiming his property .

“I was surprised when my mother phoned me telling me that my wife had looted all our matrimonial property because when I left home our relationship was flowing nicely,” he said.

Maranga denied that she visited Mukwerere at her workplace to abuse her.

Magistrate Ms Barbra Masinire granted the protection order which barred Maranga from verbally or physically abusing Mukwerere and to keep peace towards her at all times.
