Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso will clash at a pre-wedding gig this Friday

Entertainment Reporter—
Fresh from their joint United Kingdom tour, superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso are set to throw a pre-wedding party this Friday at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex in what promises to be an explosive show ahead of the nuptials between Sharon Macheso and her fiancée Kudakwashe Munetsi.

It might not come as a surprise to see Sharon and Munetsi at the gig since Mtukudzi or simply Tuku is Sharon’s God parent.
Already the gig has the makings of a thriller as the countdown to the long awaited wedding starts.

For Macheso, he never thought this day would come having been to hell and back since his divorce to second wife Fortunate Mapako started.
The glittering wedding ceremony scheduled for Norton at Pakare Paye Arts Centre is likely to put all that behind and open a new chapter for the Orchestra Mberikwazvo frontman. This is his second chance to be a father figure to Sharon, his first daughter.

While Macheso will not perform at the wedding as he will be busy with other formalities, the gig is a perfect setting for him to be the best he can be without minding about his in-laws.

So when Macheso or Extrabasso takes to the stage expect a lively performance yet to be seen so far this year.
It is not easy to be able to play the guitar, especially the bass, and lead a band as well as dance all at one go. But surprisingly, Extrabasso is one artiste who does everything with much ease. He has plenty of hits to enjoy.

However, the “Madhawu” singer always keeps himself on solid ground. His music appeals to young and old because he sings about everyday life.
From “Charakupa” and “Mai Rubi” to “Makandidana” and “Shedia” he talks about everyday struggle.

The gig promises nothing short of fireworks as Tuku will be in high spirits to enthrall fans just before the big wedding.
Tuku is one of the granddads of Zimbabwean music.

According to Boston Globe what makes Tuku’s music so powerful is that he delivers his messages with a gritty vocal style reminiscent of Otis Redding over intricate interlocking patterns adapted for guitar from mbira.

Tuku music also incorporates the hard-driving South African mbaqanga beat and the katekwe drumming patterns of his Korekore people.
Show organiser Josh Hozheri promised music lovers a whale of a time when the two renowned musicians clash this Friday.

“Nowadays it is not easy to bring the two great musicians together but this weekend they are fresh and itching to do what they do best on stage. This is a great combination to put you into high spirits this month,” Hozheri said.
