You serve a God who corrects situations, which means right now anything which is not functioning in your life, he is right here to correct this situation. Do you believe that this man had tried this before but it had not worked?

Mark 1:22: “And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.”

This power is graciously given to us by God and all that is left is for us to start exercising it.

We need to use it, let’s use it against our enemies.

Let us use it against diseases. Let us use this power in any contrary situation.

Put effort to put this power to use because it is already given. Just in case you are not aware of it, right where you are, you are in possession of this godly power and this power is transmitted by words.

When you speak, you release the power of God.

Notice when Paul preached in Ephesus so many things happened that time in the book of Acts to a point where you hear the story of the seven sons of Sceva that went out to cast out demons.

The results also were amazing and astonishing and what happened on that event surprised a lot of people and the Bible actually says people magnified the Lord as a result of what had happened.

They glorified Jesus because of what happened to the sons of Sceva.

It is totally the opposite when it was heard abroad that demons had victory over sons of the Priests and people with demons came to surrender their goods.

How do you explain that?

At a moment when demons were having victory over men of God. People came to surrender to Jesus.

You hear that people surrendered their arts and everything they used and then after that you hear that the word of God grew mighty, it became very strong, dominated the entire city of Ephesus.

The word of God prevailed.

You see, the word of God has a track record, it once prevailed and will prevail. I pray that it will also prevail in your own city.

Prevailing against something means there was a conflict. There was a contention between two or more words. It means that prior to this there could have been words spoken against the city of Ephesus.

There were curses against this city, some people had spoken negative words against this city and Paul came with a different statement.

He released words into the environment and the word of God began to prevail. You see in this particular scripture above, people were astonished when they listened to Jesus.

They realised there was a big difference between Jesus and these Scribes. The difference was in the authority that He was carrying.

When Jesus speaks one word the amount of authority you would experience is amazing.

It was different because the same people who were now astonished would spend days and even years in the synagogues and yet for the first time when they listen to a man they do not just hear words but experience authority.

Was it in the amount of words? Was it his eloquence?

Was it in the grammar?

Did Jesus move around with a dictionary?

The difference was in authority. You see if you go down to verse 27 it reads: “And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.”

They had never seen this kind of authority where you see a man speaking to spirits and the spirits are ready to listen to a man and obey what he is saying. Giving instructions to demons. Demons are ready to take orders, imagine that kind of authority.

If so much power can be given to you what else would you need? It’s an amazing life, when you sit there and you know you can take charge over demons, you release words and demons have to run.

Today I am saying you have that power! How did they know there was authority in the name of Jesus?

One day there was a team of Pharisees that were sent to investigate Jesus.

So that they would come up with an accusation against him.

They attended one of his services and they were in the midst of multitudes when Jesus came.

They came back with a report and they were asked did you find anything that we can use against him? And all of them gave the same report. They said there is no man that speaks like him.

So we have to come up with a new strategy if you want to really arrest him don’t allow him to speak, don’t even attend.

Don’t even go there to listen because he does not speak like a man. If you allow him to speak, you will not even arrest him because there is so much authority when he speaks. He sets the agenda.

That’s the Jesus who is on our side. One enjoys serving such a God. A God who is not such a coward, willing to hand over such power to the people who serve him.

What did they see after he spoke words, what is this all about, how did they feel?

What did they really experience?

Why are they being astonished?

Jesus would look at a person with a withered hand, which had been like that for years. This person had been coming to church, he had been coming to the synagogue. This man had been listening to Pharisees and scribes. Yet his hand had never responded to their teachings. The withered hand had never reacted to any of the teachings, until Jesus came with a very strange teaching. A doctrine of saying things and seeing a reaction. It’s a doctrine.

This is not just about the Holy Spirit or baptism or Holy Communion, it is about speaking words and you see a reaction, this is a doctrine. People are saying what kind of doctrine is this.

Jesus walks into a room and discovers there is a dead situation. He says to this man stand up.

He does not have tablets in his pocket. He does not have an injection. But he is just looking at a situation and he knows that everything that is needed for this man to recover is contained in words.

He said to this man stretch forth your hand. There is no physiotherapy right there.

He could not stretch his hand before. He tried it before, but all of a sudden permission was given to him. The Creator of the hand did a follow-up. He looked at it and said I never created it like this. It is working in disobedience. It was designed to be stretched forth!

You serve a God who corrects situations, which means right now anything which is not functioning in your life, he is right here to correct this situation.

Do you believe that this man had tried this before but it had not worked?

Look at how many things you have tried, be it in business or in marriage and still your hand could not stretch forth.

It’s unbelievable. Just by that word, the man could now do what he was not able to do previously.

The devil wants us to struggle before we get anything from God. Instead of making claims and receiving. When words are being spoken . . . when you speak a word, words are living substance. If God could only open your eyes so that you see what happens you.
