A high level conference, featuring several local and international experienced captains in business and finance has been slated for this week. The inaugural Financial Markets Indaba, to be held Thursday, at the Meikles hotel, is expected to draw to 300 delegates including senior executives, managers and professionals working in commercial banking, brokerage firms, investment management, insurance and pension funds, investment banks, investmentadvisory firms, actuarial companies, Government, law firms, financial services regulatory bodies, among others.

More than 50 influential speakers and panellists from various backgrounds have been lined up to share experiences at the conference.

Some of the objectives of the indaba include inspiring financial market reforms key to economic growth through “the union of thought leaders, professionals and Government”

Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa is expected to deliver a keynote address while other speakers will include Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor Dr John Mangudya, Securities Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe chief executive officer Tafadzwa Chinamo, Barclays Bank Zimbabwe managing director George Guvamatanga, Brainworks Capital chief executive officer George Manyere and Zimbabwe Stock Exchange chief executive officer Alban Chirume.

Prominent chartered accountant and companies reconstruction expert Reggie Saruchera, former African Sun chief executive officer Shingi Munyeza, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Busisa Moyo and Zimbabwe Investment Authority chairman Nigel Chanakira are some of the speakers at the indaba.

Dr Mangudya and Mr Chinamo will address the conference on regulation and investor protection. The session will address such issues as the safety of investors on local markets, competitiveness of Zimbabwean markets to attract talent and innovators
