Talented bass guitarist Spencer Khumbuyani has rejoined Peter Moyo. Khumbuyani parted ways with Moyo in 2011 to join Energy Mutodi together with chanter Gift “Shiga Shiga” Katulika and drummer Gaison Sixpense. He recorded few albums with Mutodi before the musician got embroiled in legal disputes that left his band struggling.

The situation at Mutodi Stars left him with no option but to retrace his steps to Moyo’s Utakataka Express.

Yesterday Khumbuyani told The Herald Entertainment that they are only left with few things to discuss with Moyo but the move is definite.

“We have discussed the issue with Peter though we are left with few things but it’s almost done and I will be moving soon,” said Khumbuyani.

He added that Utakataka Express was his home and he was glad to go back to work.

“There was noise about our movement from Utakataka but there was nothing amiss about that because we were just looking for greener pastures,” said Khumbuyani.

The trio left Young Igwe, as Moyo is affectionately known, at a time he was struggling to keep the band intact after inheriting it from his late father.

Moyo confirmed Spencer’s move saying the guitarist was coming back home.

“Yes he is coming to join us once again and Utakataka is his home,” said Moyo.

He added that they were not firing any bass guitarist but they will work together.

“We are not going to dismiss any band member because Savious Kurukodzi (who plays bass guitar in the band) is good. There will be an arrangement for them to work together.”

Meanwhile, Khumbuyani is working on his own album that he said would be done in the next few months.

Shiga Shiga is also recording a solo album titled “Two Years Later” that will be launched at Private Lounge on February 14 together with Zoey’s debut album.
