A possible reunion of the famed group Slice International is expected this November when one of the founding members Tinos “Slicey T” Viriri returns from his base in Canada for a series of gigs scheduled for Harare, Bulawayo and Mutare.
The group last performed together some nine years ago and the tour in November will likely bring a lot of fond memories for the boy band that emerged from the streets of Chitungwiza to become one of the sought after groups in urban music.

“I will be coming home for the first time since I relocated to Canada and this is an important for the group –  Slice since we have been unable to work together.
“Everyone is excited about reuniting and we have a lot to share with our fans,” Slicey T said.

The tour also coincides with his birthday where a number of renowned musicians the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi adn Bojo Mujo from South Africa are expected to attend.
“I will be turning a year older this November so we thought it would be great to have a number of shows together with other top bands,” he said. Slicey T who is now a DJ with a top Canadian radio station called Africa Radio Show has promoted local artistes among them Nox Guni, Winky D and Mtukudzi in Canada.

He said there was a lot to catch up on since Slice had released their new album titled “2014 Return of Slice”.
The good thing is that on the new album took the risk by trying out different producers and it worked.

The album sounds fresh and different from their previous works thanks to several producers including the likes of Kutso, Gordon Mutekedza aka Flash Gordon, Russo of Way Too Nice Music and D Max.

Of course, there were other songs that were produced by Collin Sondayi aka Sir Sondy, who is also a founding member of the group.
There is a little bit of everything from deep house tracks to dancehall club bangers.

While the Zimbabwean music scene has changed so much that artistes no longer make classic music but bubblegum music, Slice International is sure to make its mark on the scene with the new album.

The 10-track CD opens with a dance track called “Party Time” and it’s for those who love to dance.
Track two features the talents of Roki on vocals and again it takes you back to the days before Slice went international.

The song has sounds synonymous with Sir Sondy on the keyboard while Roki’s vocals are well complemented by the lingering bassline.
Other songs worth listening to are “Kuchema”, “Handikanganwe”, “Chimbidza” and “Ooh Yes”.

DJ Slicey T  recently launched the first African Radio Show in Canada that broadcasts every Sunday.
Some of the featured artistes on the show include the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi,Dr Thomas Mapfumo, Nox Guni, Bojo Mujo, Biblos, Selmour Mtukudzi and comedian Uncle Ritchie.

The show is aimed at giving African artists the much needed exposure as well as updates to Zimbabweans and African community living in Canada on the trends across the African continent ranging from entertainment, sports, social and politics.
