Progress Chipfumo left and Slicey T

Slice International is expected to resume live shows this weekend with a show slated for Mindy’s Place along Bulawayo Road on Saturday before heading to Mbare for another gig at Nyaumwe Bar. The group will perform back-to-back with Progress Chipfumo as well as Jah Limbo, a Zim dancehall artiste who was recently signed to Slice International record stable.

Chipfumo is one of Zimbabwe’s most talented and yet underrated musicians.

For some obscure reason, Progress who made his entrance on the music scene as a member of the famed Hohodza Band, is failing to take his act to where it should be.

With his latest smash hit album “Hold My Hand” to his credit, this should be Chipfumo’s time to shine but alas, he is playing second fiddle to musicians like Jah Prayzah.

Chipfumo is a talented lead guitarist and you cannot deny the fact that he is also a good composer and music arranger. Songs such as “Tsiurika”, “Amai”, “Mangerengere” and “Havakusiyi” show his great artistry and yet not many people appreciate his music.

There is no doubt the collaboration with Slice International will bring back a lot of fond memories when the two groups used to perform together during their formative years.

Slice International is riding high with a new album titled “2014 Return of Slice”.

The 10-track album appeals to a cross-over audience as it features a different approach to their sound.

Added to this, the album features the talents of Roki, Varaidzo Nyakunika on “Ndiwe Wandinoda” remix as well as Zim-dancehall chanter Tings.

Other songs on the playlist include “Party Time” featuring Tings, “Chimbidza”, “Handikanganwe”. “God” , “Chinonzi Rudo” and “Haundide” featuring Roki.

Slice International also went an extra mile to work with different producers among them Russo of “This Is Russo” fame and Gordon “Flash” Mutekedza.

Slice International emerged from the streets of Chitungwiza to become one of the sought-after groups in urban music.

Slicey T who is now a DJ with a top Canadian radio station called Africa Radio Show has promoted local artistes among them Nox, Winky D and Oliver Mtukudzi in Canada.

He recently launched the first African Radio Show in Canada that broadcasts every Sunday 12-1pm mountain time 8pm Zimbabwean time on: <http://cjsr.streamon.fm/> also accessed online or tune in App or 88.5FM for those in Canada.

The show is aimed at giving African artists the much needed exposure as well as updates to Zimbabweans and African community living in Canada on the trends across the African continent ranging from entertainment, sports, social and politics.
