Musician Shuramurove whose real name is, Chenjerai Mavhiki, will launch his second album at Jazz 24/7 tonight. Mavhiki entered the music scene in 2003 with his album titled “Ndichamuti Ani”, but lack of resources was a drawback and he had to take a break.

The musician said he was confident that his coming album “Africa Agenda” will make an impact on the local scene. “That will be a good album I tell you. I took my time because I wanted to make sure that people get the best out of this album,” he said.

The album has nine tracks and the musician said he will include a track that featured the late musician Cde Chinx. He said in 2005 he recorded an album with Gramma Records which he never released due to lack of resources.

He bemoans piracy saying it has affected a number of musicians. “The life of musicians has never been the same because of piracy. I call upon law enforcement agents to act and protect musicians in the country,” he said.

Shuramurove started music while he was in Grade 4 in Mhangura. “When Mhangura Mine was still functioning, they would bring music groups to perform. As young boys, we would make tin guitars and plastic drums, emulating the music groups that would have performed at the mine. That is the time I met the late Admire Kasenga, who was the leader of Ngosimbi Crew and he encouraged me to be serious with music,” he said.

I am happy I will be unveiling my second album on the journey to fulfil my dream. Zhakata will be the guest musician at the launch that will be graced by a number of artists who include, Progress Chipfumo, Douglas Chimbetu, First Farai, Tendai Dembo, Romeo Gasa, Simon Mutambi, Nyamasvisva, Tatenda Pinjisi, Lee Musoni and Chief Shumba.
