Sharon Macheso, the daughter of sungura musician Alick Macheso, tied the knot with Kudakwashe Munetsi at Harare Magistrate Court yesterday.
The two tied the knot ahead of the main wedding celebrations to be held at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton on Monday. Sharon confirmed the development yesterday though she could not give further details.

“How did you guys get the information? Yes, it’s true we have gone to the court to have our marriage vows but the main celebrations will be held on Monday at Pakare Paye,” she said.

She said she had been accompanied by her grandmother from her maternal side while Munetsi brought his uncle.
Sharon said they had decided to have the prior marriage so that their programmne, which has a number of activities, runs smoothly on the wedding day.

Asked if they were planning on spending big on the wedding, Sharon said she opted for a small and private wedding.
“A church service for the wedding will occur at the Salvation Army Church in Waterfalls and a reception will be held at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton,” she said.

Sharon customarily married South Africa-based Kudakwashe in February.
The ceremony took place at Macheso’s Waterfalls home where Munetsi reportedly paid $12 000 as bride price excluding cattle and other goodies.
Sharon has been in the media eye for a series of negative stories which have never been substantiated.

Her family has dismissed the negative stories as sheer malice on the part of so-called informants.
In earlier interviews, Macheso expressed gratitude over his daughter’s wedding, saying she had led by example as the first born in the family.

He said his relationship to fellow musician Oliver Mtukudzi had led to the decision to hold the ceremony at the latter’s Pakare Paye Arts centre.
The close family ties saw Mtukudzi’s wife Daisy attending the customary marriage ceremony at Macheso’s house in Waterfalls.

Ironically, Mtukudzi and Macheso will share the stage tomorrow at Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza ahead of the wedding. The big show is likely to be a big pre-wedding party with the musicians’ fans.

Celebrities from all walks of life are expected to attend Sharon’s wedding and reports indicate that 800 people have been invited.
A number of musicians including Suluman Chimbetu have been invited to the wedding and are expected to provide entertainment at the ceremony.
