Organisers of the Sunset Beer Festival set for October 24 and 25 in Harare said they are engaging regional artistes to perform at the fete.
The festival will be held at Sunset Arena, a new entertainment venue at Guard Alert Training grounds.Although the organisers could not reveal names of artistes they have approached, sources say the musicians are likely to come from South Africa, Botswana and Zambia.

“They have engaged artistes from South Africa, Bostwana and Zambia and they are finalising the deals. I am not sure if they bring all the artistes or one main act from one of these countries,” said the source.

The inaugural Sunset Beer Festival will be held two weeks after the annual Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival that takes place on October 11 at Glamis Arena where a top international act is billed to perform.

Organisers of Sunset Beer Festival said they would take regional artistes for the inaugural event but are looking forward to go beyond the region in next editions.

“We do not intend to compete with other beer festivals that are already there but we will have our own model that is unique,” said the organisers.

“Talks are underway and we will have enough information soon. Ours is a different festival in many ways and people will see the difference when we launch the inaugural two-day fete on October 24.

“This is an event meant to provide exciting outdoor entertainment this summer. The performances will just complement a programme that is mainly meant to give beer drinkers an opportunity to mix, mingle and have fun.”

The festival will have various fun games, competitions and stage performances of various art genres.
