Priviledge Cement, the daughter of gospel sensation Primrose Cem- ent, is determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps. The upcoming musician has released a 11-track album titled “Hutsvene MuAfrica”, which is a blend of afro-jazz, house and contemporary music. In an interview, Priviledge said music was something that runs in the family as her father is a music teacher at Glad Tidings Church.

“I started singing when I was still at primary school at a very tender age. I first went to the studio as a backing vocalist for my mum when I was in Grade Seven,” she said.

Priviledge later worked with a number of artistes such as Kudzai Sevenzo, Cynthia Mare, Emelda Mudzamiri and Rumbidzai Zvirikuzhe as a backing vocalist.

“I’m a born-again believer and my whole family comes from a Christian background, so gospel music is something that has been in me since I was child. I love singing. I think that’s my calling,” said Priviledge.

Priviledge also said her mother is always there to guide her through advice and moral sup- port.

“You know mothers, they are always there pushing you, giving you strength, courage and confidence.

‘‘Without her I don’t think I would be where I am today. My mum’s support is so much and I thank God for that,” she said

She said she has a live band that she uses to perform at weddings and church services and since she started distributing her music, invites have been flocking her way.

Priviledge’s wish is for her music to go global and she has sent some of her music to engage distributors in the United States and she is optimistic of going on an international tour.

“I see myself promoting others in this industry and I dream big for my music career. I see myself doing colabos with international artistes,” she said.

Priviledge is the first born in a family of four and most of her siblings are also gifted with different talents as the youngest, who is just three years old, and can play the drums.
