ZIMBABWE Defence Forces Queens netball team coach Feresi Johns is hopeful they will win today’s season-opener against Mutare Polytechnic in Mutare.
The 2013 champions will start their title defence highly motivated after they were honoured for their achievements this week.
“We have a good team that is capable of doing well this season the players are now seasoned so we can beat any team,” said Johns.
“We started training some two weeks back and the team is raring to go.

“I think our first match will not be that difficult, without taking anything away from Mutare Poly, and I think we have an edge over them.
“The team we are going to play next week, Nehanda Nyakasikana, may give us a challenge but at the moment we are focusing on our away fixture.
“The girls want to maintain the good form and I will keep on encouraging them to work hard.”

ZDF Queens were promoted into the top-flight league in 2003.
“When the team was promoted we gave ourselves some targets and after a decade we managed to win the championship and we are happy with that,” said Johns.

“Nehanda Nyakasikana had dominated the league and we managed to upstage them so I hope we will continue with the good performance.”
