All is set for the inaugural launch of the Miss Cultural Zimbabwe pageant that has been scheduled for the VIP lounge at the Rainbow Towers tomorrow night.

Twenty-three models will be battling it out in African themed categories at the event which has been organised to celebrate Africa Day.

The pageant will be held under the theme “Celebrating Africa’s Diverse Culture”.

The pageant is a brainchild of Nilton Makazhu, founder and director of Iconic Model Management Zimbabwe, who said his aim was to lift the African banner through a beauty showcase.

“This is the first time we are hosting this event and we are hoping that our idea to celebrate our African values and cultures through a beauty showcase will be widely accepted by Zimbabwe. We are proud Africans and this is an opportunity we thought we should present to Africa and not let the day just go by,” he said.

Mukazhu revealed that they also included models from other towns.

“Most of our models taking part in this contest have come from many parts of the country, we have included models from Bulawayo and Chiredzi just to add a variety to the taste of the pageant,” he said.

He said that entertainment will be provided by local Zimdancehall artistes.

“There is going to be a lot of entertainment for those who are going to attend, our own rising Zimdancehall sensation Coolstany and Jah Signal will share the stage with Hip-hop guru Marques,” he said.

He emphasised that the models have been well groomed and they also checked their backgrounds before taking them for the contest.

“In fear of any misconduct from our models, we had a thorough investigative background check on each one of them, now we are sure and can promise an exciting night at the VIP lounge tomorrow,” he said.

The model management has been involved in a number of duties like event hosting, ushering and is set to be taking part in the coming Miss Curvy 2015 and a fashion show in July.
