ACCRA. – MISS Universe Ghana, Abena Akuaba Appiah, is confident of landing the global crown when the Miss Universe final is held in Miami, Florida later this month.

The event is scheduled for January 25.

“I am excited at the opportunity to represent my country. I can only ask for God’s guidance and favour ahead of the finals,” Appiah said when asked about her chances.

She left her country last Friday for America with locals wishing her well ahead of the competition that has drawn 90 models.

“Abena is naturally beautiful and intelligent, so I can safely confirm that she is the next Miss Universe. If you look at her, you see a naturally talented girl,” said a parent, Marcia Mensah.

If Appiah, an Afropop musician, wins the coveted Miss Universe, it will be the second in a row that an African beauty queen wins a global competition.
