who were crowned champions yesterday.
The Mighty Warriors and the Egyptians ended with four points, after they drew their game and both beat Tunisia 1-0.

However, the Egyptians were crowned champions on the strength of their better disciplinary record, having recorded less yellow and red cards compared to the Mighty Warriors.

Meanwhile, Fifa have revealed that they would be increasing Women’s World Cup slots at the next edition to be held in Canada to 24 countries, from the current 16, and have called on improved performances from the African countries.

This was said at the just-ended Fifa/Caf Conference held in Johannesburg to review the Women’s World Cup held in Germany this July. Mighty Warriors’ coach Rosemary Mugadza and Zifa technical advisor Nelson Matongorere attended the workshop.

“Fifa said they would be increasing women’s teams participating at World Cup from 16 to 24 which means African countries would be getting more slots.
“Fifa called for grassroots development, starting from primary schools. If you look at it, most African countries don’t have Super Leagues,” said Mugadza.
