A 22-year-old man was last week arraigned before the court after he allegedly stabbed his two brothers with a knife over loud music.

Terrence Bondiya appeared before Mbare magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje charged with physical abuse.

Mr Mambanje remanded Bondiya out of custody to February 19 for trial.

Bondiya’s only bail condition was to have an alternative home as he could not be trusted to stay in the same house with his siblings.

When asked to plead, Bondiya admitted to stabbing his brothers Ngonidzashe and Leeroy.

He told the court that he had only acted out of self-defence as his brothers had attacked him using steel rods.

“Yes, I admit to stabbing them both, but I only did so in retaliation because they were ganging up against me, beating me up with steel rods,” said Bondiya.

“I am even grateful that I don’t have to stay in the same house with them anymore because I am afraid of them. These two are capable of killing me.”

The prosecutor Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe stated that on January 23 around 9pm, Bondiya came home drunk and proceeded to Ngonidzashe and Leeroy’s bedroom.

The court heard that Bondiya instructed his brothers to lower the volume of the radio, but they both refused.

It is alleged that he then produced a knife and stabbed Ngonidzashe once on the shoulder.

The court was told that Bondiya then rushed out of the house and returned later, still angry, and stabbed Leeroy once on the thigh.

Bondiya allegedly ran away but was later apprehended by the police.
