MARLBOROUGH were crowned the 2015 Arenel Under-16 soccer champions when they beat Prince Edward 2-0 in the final yesterday. The Harare Province representatives first drew 0-0 with Chibi in the group stages and another 1-1 draw against Mzilikazi saw them progress to the quarter-finals. They drew 1-1 against Mosi-o-tunya, before winning 4-2 in the penalty shootout and then needed the lottery to beat Chemhanza 5-2 to make the final. Captain Leeroy Mavhunga said he was happy to lead his side to victory.

“I am happy for my school and we worked hard as a team and managed to win,” said Mavhunga. “I am happy to have scored the other goal after Farai Chinya had put us ahead. The team was well-prepared for the match and we are happy for the supporters who were behind us.”
