LONDON. — Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal’s infamously abrasive personality has seen him fall out with players and managers in every single country he has worked in.

In fact, Pedro’s recent condemnation of the Dutchman’s treatment of Victor Valdes shows he is even infuriating players he has no contact with.

From his early days as a player to his remarkable trouser-dropping antics at Bayern Munich, Van Gaal has proven himself to be one of the most caustic men in football.

Here, we look at some of his biggest feuds.

Mark van Bommel

The two Dutchmen didn’t get on at Bayern Munich and Van Bommel let for AC Milan early on in Van Gaal’s reign.

“I had a little problem with him in 2010 in December,” said the midfielder. “Maybe I could have settled down and let it go. But that is the way I am. That is my character and it was his character as well.”

Luca Toni

Another casualty from Van Gaal’s time at Bayern. Despite Toni having been top scorer for the two seasons prior to Van Gaal’s arrival, he found himself consigned to the bench.

Toni later said: “The way Van Gaal treated the key players was unworthy on a human basis.”

Rivaldo

The pair fell out during Van Gaal’s two spells at Barcelona. The Brazilian was eventually released from his contract by him. “I don’t like Van Gaal and he doesn’t like me,” said Rivaldo.

Van Gaal also fell out with the Catalan press over his treatment of Rivaldo.

Hristo Stoichkov

Like Rivaldo, Stoichkov found appearances hard to come by under Van Gaal at Barcelona.

“He’s mediocre. He destroyed Barca and is destroying Man United.” Stoichkov said. “With what he has done to (Victor) Valdes he has shown he is a bad person.”

Robin van Persie

A rocky start to their relationship actually blossomed into Van Persie being named Dutch captain under Van Gaal. But their relationship soured at Manchester United and the former Arsenal forward was eventually frozen out and forced into a move to Turkey with Fenerbahce. Van Persie’s parting message to United was a not-so-subtle dig at Van Gaal. — The Mirror.
