Music entrepreneurs from across Africa with fresh ideas are being invited to submit applications for the African Music Development Programme inaugural IMPACT Music Con- ference.

Organisers of the conference noted in a Press release that the event would be an opportunity to network with experts in the creative business.

“If you are a talented, creative entrepreneur using digital tools to innovate in the music sector you are invited to submit your project for consideration. Selected ideas will have a chance to pitch to a community of peers, music and creative business experts. They will receive one on one feedback, input and an opportunity to network with some of best in the business,” reads the Press release.

The conference is open to all African music entrepreneurs with AMDP funding travel and accommodation for successful applicants residing outside of Zimbabwe

Applicants are required to submit proposals that contain new business idea which are no more than two years old, focus is on music and demonstrate a positive impact for potential partners,

The initiatives must be creative, innovative, scalable with growth potential and Africa based.

After presenting their ideas to executives, established and thriving creative businesses and tech gurus the applicants will receive one-on-one feedback.

The two-day conference which will begin on April 28 — during the Harare International Festival of the Arts – will be centred on the convergence of music and technology in Africa. Presenters have been drawn from various countries.

“The conference will feature talks, panel discussions and presentations by some of the most innovative and successful minds in the music and tech sector.

“Speakers include: M.anifest (Ghanaian hip- hop phenomenon) Nic Burger (Kleek Africa/Universal Records), Yoel Kenan (Africori).

“Also Phiona Okumu (Afripop Mag), Virgine Berger (Don’t Believe the Hype), Tehn Diamond (Zim music star), Emeline Wraith (Remote-Goat), Teju Ajani (YouTube), Nkiru Balonwu (Spinlet CEO) and many more will take part in this event,” noted the organisers.

The deadline for submission of applications is March 25 and winners will be notified by early April.

Since its inception in 1999, HIFA has grown to be the largest cultural event in Zimbabwe and earned a slot among the eight major festivals in Africa.

It has brought mega international African names like Salif Keita, Angelique Kidjo, Ismael Lo and Youssou N’Dour to Zimbabwe.

This year’s HIFA will run from April 28 to May 3 under the theme “Articulate”.
