The much anticipated Harare air day show set for May earlier this year will finally take place at Charles Prince Airport today.
The popular show will also see teenagers taking part for the first time under the theme ‘Planes meet people’.
According to organisers, the show seeks to educate and entertain youth about aviation, giving them a closer look inside the airplane, not the general stuff they know, which is a flying airplane in the sky. In an interview with Cool Lifestyle, Harare Junior Mayor Ebenezer Nobelo said the event will start at 10am.

“A lot of activities will be lined up for the event including light aircraft exhibitions. There is a scheduled 30 minutes aviation career guidance lecture as well as food and entertainment,” said  the Junior Mayor.

He said the main purpose of the event was to raise funds for the construction of boreholes, improve sanitation and further e-learning in schools.

“As a Junior Mayor, it is much agreed that we are the role models to other children hence we need to do something for them. We want to raise funds which will be used in sinking boreholes in areas facing water challenges. We all have the right to clean water. Education is also important hence with the 21st century era we are in we also want to promote the e-learning culture,” he said.

He said they were expecting a crowd of no less than 10 000 people consisting of students, aviation fanatics, aviation stakeholders and Government officials as well as those from industry and commerce.

“The ultimate plan is to make this day an annual event which will incorporate both local and regional aviation industry,” said Jnr Mayor Ebenezer.
“Guests will be entertained by live bands and some of the artistes expected include Prime Minister, Mr Bell, Zim Talent , Mic Inity and Kito Mudzinganyama,” he said.
The Junior Mayor said the event will also be a platform for other teenagers to shine.
“As the junior council we are looking to promote fresh young talent as well. We have selected a few great budding musicians from high schools such as Sean the guitarist from Ellis Robins and  Junior Councilor Monalisa from Mount Pleasant High School,” he said.
Various exhibitors will be showcasing their aircraft to aviation fanatics and these include East African School of Aviation Kenya, Air Zimbabwe, Mashonaland Flying Club, Falcon Air, CAAZ, CATS and many more exhibitors.
