A MAN yesterday told the court that he suffered a huge loss after his ex-wife broke into his fowl run and killed all the chickens and took away the feeding trays.Lazarus Magaya claimed his ex-wife Tendekai Gumbo went to his home and looted his new wife’s clothes and particulars.

Magaya made the revelations at the Harare Civil Court where he was seeking a protection order against Gumbo, whom he said was breaching his peace.

“I encountered a huge loss last year in November when she came to my house and killed all my chickens that were in the fowl run before disappearing with the feeding trays,” he said

Magaya claimed Gumbo was in the habit of physically and verbally abusing him in front of his new wife.

He told the magistrate Mr Brighton Pabwe that Gumbo also visits him at his workplace where she physically abuses him in the presence of his workmates.

“I had to be treated at a local clinic last year after sustaining serious injuries from her attack. She comes to my workplace demanding cash from me and if I don’t give her anything she physically abuses me,” Magaya said.

Magaya said Gumbo once came to his home during midnight and dumped their two minor children outside.

“She also came at my house and took all my clothes that were on the washing line,” he said.

Gumbo did not show up at the court.

Mr Pabwe granted the protection order in default which barred Gumbo from verbally or physically abusing Magaya.

He ordered Gumbo to keep peace towards Magaya at all times.
