A senior officer in the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture in Chinhoyi has committed suicide by plunging head first from the second floor after stealing from his employer.
Calvin Kadzviti (48) of Chikonohono in Chinhoyi and employed as an assistant provincial education administrator, left a suicide note in his office stating that he had stolen from his employer but did not give specific details.

Said Kadzviti in the suicide note:“Ndinonyara kusvika papi, 2004 mukadzi kurwara nemwana vanhu vakataura, 2014 nhasi uno kuba, zvandinyanyira.”
Mashonaland West acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera said investigations were in progress.

“We are investigating a case of suspected suicide involving a Ministry of Education official whom we suspect jumped out of his office and died.”
Kadzviti was found dead in a drain by a guard on patrol at around 9.30pm last Wednesday.

A report was made to the police who found a chair near the window in his office in the Seven Heroes Building.
Police officers also found a note on his desk which stated that his wife and son fell ill and some residents started talking about the illness and that he had also stolen from his employer.

Sources at the office complex said Kadzviti’s wife and son suffered mental illness sometime in 2004.
Asst Insp Kohwera called on people not to resort to suicide saying every situation could be addressed through the help of relatives, friends, counsellors and the police.
