Top South African radio personality‚ music producer‚ philanthropist and entrepreneur Sibusiso Leope is set to make his debut slot on Star FM during “The Crossover” show hosted by Shingai Mokina aka DJ Mox this Friday. Leope, or simply DJ Sbu to his legion of fans, will exhibit his skills on the decks before he attends “The Shift”‚ a business forum at the Meikles Hotel on Saturday where he is the guest speaker. The maverick businessman confirmed his visit to Harare via a promo which is being run on Star FM‚ the official partners of “The Shift”‚ a monthly affair.

DJ Sbu was invited to Harare by businessman Chamu Chiwanza‚ who is the founder of “The Shift” and also the president of the Affirmative Action Group.

“I established a platform called ‘The Shift’‚ which draws a consortium of young entrepreneurs to discuss nothing but business.

It is apolitical‚ non-religious and it seeks to decolonise the minds of young people from mental slavery, like what the legendary Bob Marley sang.

“The idea came about after realising that the education system does not address the business side of things.

“It does not tell us we can own the hospitals where we are doctors or to be the owners of schools where we teach‚“ said Chiwanza.

Chiwanza said‚ “The Shift” sought to transform the lives of people and advance the development of women.

“Women need to be empowered psychologically so that they have the capacity to venture into mainstream business without using the so-called Beijing mantra.

“We also want to advise our youths against drugs so that we don’t breed a generation of delinquency. In other words‚ we want to demystify the oft-common thinking that it’s better to be European or an American.

“For instance‚ the Holy Bible has been there since way back and up to now the preachers are still explaining it and that is the approach we are taking.

“We will continue talking business until people are empowered”‚ he said.

Asked why he founded The Shift when he was already the president of AAG‚ Chiwanza said the pressure group was more or less political.

“The Shift is by and large a neutral platform where solutions to current economic problems bedevilling Zimbabwe are proffered.

We want a space for discussions without being labelled or politicised. There is too much political polarisation and when I speak as AAG president I have to watch what I say.

“The Shift provides for candid and intelligent talk without minding about the politics of the day‚“ he said.

Attendance at The Shift is free and the session starts at 8am until 12 noon.

According to Chiwanza‚ DJ Sbu is one of the celebrated in South Africans who despite his popularity remains humble.

“He is raring to go and I was surprised by his humility when I met him in South Africa.

“Fans actually mob him for autographs. It is my hope that business people will fill up the Meikles hotel.

“We do not charge people to attend The Shift and the last time we hosted the forum we had among the attendants the likes of Minister Patrick Zhuwao and it was a humbling experience because he came and freely contributed to the debate like every other progressive Zimbabwean”‚ said Chiwanza.

DJ Sbu boasts being the first African entertainer to launch his own brand of energy drink called More Fire and is also an accomplished motivational speaker.

The “Let It Rain” hit-maker joins the likes of revered Zimbabwean DJ based in the United Kingdom the likes of Peter Johns‚ Dennis Wilson and Kelvin ‘The Soul Supreme S’ Sifelani to host a shows on Star FM.
