Domboramwari Revival Collection in conjunction with Zimbabwe Diabetes Association (ZDA) has penned a song that educates the nation on measures that can be taken to avert the deadly disease. Titled “Sugar”, the song features on the choral group’s 10-track album “Izvo Zvaringana” launched at Cresta Lodge on Friday night.ZDA president Dr John Mangwiro said they decided to partner the group on the song to create awareness on the disease.

“As an association we discovered that music is a great weapon in teaching people and in this case about diabetes that is why we decided to embark on edutainment.

“Domboramwari’s previous albums have inspired us through their previous works and we hope the song will do justice in creating awareness on the disease,” he said.

He encouraged other artistes to come on board and spread the message,

“I believe this album will go a long way in teaching the people about diabetes on how to manage the disease and it is my wish to have several artistes coming on board teaching people about the deadly disease,” he said.

Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa, who was at the launch, hailed the association and the choral group for their effort to educate the nation about the disease.

“The ministry applauds Zimbabwe Diabetes Association efforts on teaching people about diabetes through music. I also encourage other artistes in various categories to do the same in educating people about the disease,” said Minister Parirenyatwa.

The minister said diabetes is a silent killer disease that needed a massive awareness campaign.

Mabasa Avatumwa and Harare Choir also performed at the launch.

“Izvo Zvaringana and “Izwirashe” are some of the tracks that thrilled people at the launch.
