The inaugural Chitungwiza Business Expo started yesterday at Town Centre with over 40 businesses taking part in the three-day event that is aimed at boosting the market share of many businesses.

The event that is being hosted by the Chitungwiza Municipality in partnership with Unique Media and is running under the theme “Pushing for service delivery within Chitungwiza” has attracted more than 100 people on the first day. The expo is also aimed at bringing industry players and their clients together for exposure and networking.

Mr Itai Kwaramba of Unique Media said they were encouraged by the turnout during the opening day.
“It has been a resounding success in terms of the numbers that has been coming through,” said Mr Kwaramba.

“Chitungwiza Town Centre has not attracted much traffic but this has changed due to the opening of the expo which is good for businesses and shops operating here.

“The number of exhibitors has also been good considering we also have Zimbabwe Agricultural Show starting next week.
“A lot of big corporate companies came through and we are happy that at least we had more than 40 companies taking part.

“We also have in excess of 30. Chitungwiza is growing as a venue for exhibitions and this has proved that we can hold our own.” Some of the participants expressed hope that the expo will become an annual event.

“We are happy with the progress so far because we are being exposed to a huge market in Chitungwiza.
“As NetOne we are offering products such as One Fusion, which many people do not know about and this expo is a good platform for us to interact with our customers,” said NetOne team leader Mr Aaron Sangwenyu.

Africom head of distribution Mr Tinashe Mutore said being part of the expo was a great opportunity for them as it has enabled them to network with other industry players.

“It is a great opportunity for us to showcase the products that we have on offer and I think this is going to help us reach out to a wider market,” he said.
