Buffaloes . . . . . .  (1) 1Chiredzi registered their first home win and handed new coach Gishon Ntini a winning start in the Lowveld at Chishamiso yesterday.

Troubled Chiredzi started as the better side in the first half with their talisman Marlvin Gaki causing all sorts of problems to the visiting defence.

Gaki was a menace as he won free kicks for his side and earning Buffaloes players six yellow cards.

But it was a goal each by Dadi Temwanjira and Scholar Hadebe which handed Ntini a flying start since controversially replacing Moses Chunga
Chiredzi had their first opportunity as early as the sixth minute when newboy Tinashe Mutete headed Ronald “Maketo” Sengu’s inviting corner just over the bar.

Buffaloes coach Luke Masomere made an early substitution after 22 minutes, taking out Roy Mwenga for Jeffrey Takunda but the move did little to change the complexion of the game.

Chiredzi continued pressing for the opener as Muchineripi Muneri, Hadebe and Mutete looked comfortable in the middle. Buffaloes left back Moses Gutu had to make a suicidal challenge as he cleared Kudzai Nyamupfukudza’s goal bound effort for a corner in the 36th minute.

Chiredzi finally broke the deadlock on the death of first half as man-of -the-match Gaki stole possession from Shepherd Nkata to set up Temwanjira who slotted the ball home with perfection.
