Matapo and another are being kept to assess conditions there has been deferred again.
This comes after a prisons official who was supposed to be the guide was involved in an accident.
This is the third time when the inspection in loco has been postponed.
Matapo, Ruperts Chimanga, Phillip Chivhurunge, Lucky Mhungu, Bigknows Wairesi and Sairezi Shonhiwa are facing charges of attempting to break out of Chikurubi.
Matapo and Mhungu want their case to be referred to the Supreme Court arguing that their rights were being infringed upon.
The suspects claim the cells are living in cells were once condemned and that they are being ill treated at Chikurubi.
Appearing for the State Prosecutor Mr Michael Reza submitted that he was called by Zimbabwe Prison Services officer-in-charge of Chikurubi Maximum Prison informing him that Mr Trymore Paradzai was involved in an accident during Easter holidays.
“As a result the State is seeking a postponement to allow him to recuperate so he can guide the court,” he submitted.
Mr Reza said Mr Paradzai was in discomfort and had a plaster on his hand and could not guide the court.
However, Matapo’s lawyer Mr Charles Warara argued that the State was dragging its feet because it knew the consequences of the inspection in loco.
Mr Nemadire postponed the inspection to May 16 this year.
The State alleges that sometime in March last year the six connived with Asani Chikwanda (serving) to escape from prison.
Prison officer Donald Gwekwerere, who is currently bail pending appeal, allegedly supplied them with tools.
On April 4, it is alleged, Chimanga, Mhungu, Wairesi, Chivhurunge, Shonhiwa and Matapo used a hacksaw to cut burglar bars securing the observation window to their cell.
It is alleged they smashed the window and got out but a prison officer caught them as they tried to make good their escape.
