CHAMPION Chienderamwano will return to the stage, seeking a fourth title in today’s Mr and Ms Zimbabwe, after a year on the sidelines at 7 Arts Theatre. The hulk pulled out of last year’s contest after he had a shoulder injury which also saw him miss the Arnolds Classic.

Chienderamwano will face tough competition from Gweru-based reigning champion, Paul Goredema, who arrived in the capital on Tuesday. Also in line for the big title are Ndumiso Dlodlo, Garikayi Mujuru, Blessing Nyapimbi, Nigel Maphosa, Simbarashe Dube and Edmore Mutero. Munashe Mutandirotya is not taking part. Chimuchenga said he is well prepared for today’s event.

“I think I have done enough home work and I am ready to take part in the Zimbabwe Nationals. I have done enough in terms of preparations and now I am ready to take to the stage and let the judges do their work. Competition is good and healthy as it makes us work hard as athletes,” said Chienderamwano. The Botswana-based Chienderamwano was last crowned Mr Zimbabwe in 2015 and has not been taking part in most local contests in the past year.

“I am good to go, I am definitely defending my title. I am not even concerned about who else is competing. Last year I only had pressure on myself, this year I am not pressured by anyone who is coming to compete,’’ Goredema said. The 27-year-old last competed in May when he took part in the prestigious Arnold Classic in Johannesburg, South Africa where he finished third in the up to 100 kilograms category.
