CAPS United would be seeking to end their run on the road when they face Chapungu at Ascot today, but the big tie is at Barbourfields where high-flying Highlanders host FC Platinum tomorrow. The Bosso tie is live on SuperSport.

The Green Machine board member Lewis Uriri pledged to quit his post if his team aren’t top of the table after 10 games.

But, even if they win today, CAPS United will not take over leadership of the championship race.

It remains to be seen, then, if Uriri will stick to his words, which will raise the bar for local football administrators, or he can be persuaded to have a change of heart.

CAPS will welcome Tapuwa Kumbuyani and Tafadzwa Dube from injuries.

“We haven’t been doing well away from home and have been poor travellers so we want to improve on that,” said coach Taurai Mangwiro.  “We are not moved by the fact they haven’t lost at home.

“I believe records are meant to be broken and hopefully we will be able to break the jinx and come out victorious.”

CAPS United will miss defender Ronald Pfumbidzayi who is suspended for this match after accumulating three yellow cards.

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino said his team was ready to face another giant after defeating DeMbare at Ascot.

“Our preparations have gone so well and so far so good and we don’t have any injuries or suspensions,” said Nyikadzino.

“We want to collect maximum points since we are playing at home. We haven’t lost at home and definitely collect maximum points.

“We know they are a brand and a big team but we will not read much into that. My players tend to relax when they compete against fellow small teams but always give their best and are easily motivated when they play big teams.”

Bosso, who are yet to lose a match, have a tricky tie at home against Lloyd Mutasa’s unpredictable FC Platinum at Barbourfields tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Harare City makes a long trip to Bulawayo to face tricky How Mine hoping to continue with the momentum they gained before the break.

“It is a tough game for us but that is good because it will give us a clear picture of where we are right now in terms of our revival,” said coach Bigboy Mawiwi.
“We haven’t been getting results but it’s not like we have been playing badly.  The good thing is we had started picking points before the break and we hope to continue with that and do well again.”
