BELO HORIZONTE. — Brazil soccer legend, Cafu, has revealed he has was literally thrown out of the Selecao’s dressing room after their 7-1 nightmare defeat against Germany. Cafu was Brazil’s captain when they last lifted the World Cup in 2002 and revealed he wanted to comfort the host nation’s players as well as his former coach.

“José Maria Marin (CBF president) said he didn’t want any strange people in the dressing room,” Cafu told ESPN. “I told him that I wasn’t a ‘strange person’, that I was just there to give the boys a hug and comfort them.

“To my surprise, I was practically thrown out. Humbly, I left the changing room.
“I endured a similar thing back in 1998 and I know what a World Cup defeat feels like.

“I knew the boys needed some attention and needed to be comforted at that moment. I wasn’t there for self-promotion, I don’t need this kind of thing. I went to give a hug to Felipao and (Carlos Alberto) Parreira.”

Cafu is Brazil’s highest-ever capped player and the only player to ever have appeared in three World Cup finals, winning the trophy in 1994 and 2002.— AFP.
