walls of his beer outlet.
Solomon Bere, owner of Travellers Den beer outlet at Doro business centre near Magunje Growth Point, paid the price after he was arrested and charged with kidnapping and assault.
Bere (30) last week appeared before Karoi magistrate Mr Elisha Singano who remanded him in custody to May 4 for trial.
According to the charge sheet, Bere allegedly kidnapped and beat up a patron Esau Gweshe (20).
It is alleged that on April 15 this year, Gweshe who was clutching a beer mug (scud) mistakenly bumped onto another patron, Tambudzai Mazengwe while on the dance floor.
The disturbance resulted in Gweshe splashing beer on to the wall.
This allegedly did not go down well with Bere who was also enjoying music on the dance floor.
In a fit of rage, it is alleged, Bere grabbed Gweshe and dragged him to the burglar bars on one of the windows in the beerhall.
He allegedly handcuffed his left hand to one of the bars.
When closing time came, Bere locked his doors and went home leaving Gweshe shackled for the whole night as punishment.
This irked other patrons who later phoned the police who came to the scene the following morning and ordered Bere to release Gweshe.
Bere was then arrested and police took the pair of handcuffs that was used to commit the crime.
Mr Benjamin Negato prosecuted.
