The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has approved The Book of African Records, a Zimbabwean publication that documents African achievements from a Pan-African point of view.This means that the book will now be found on the list of books recommended by the Ministry as a reference book just like the Guinness Book of World Records, suitable for learning.

“The Book of African Records can be used as reference literature that encourages young African learners to research further and validate the knowledge, skills and achievements in the African contexts basing on indigenous knowledge systems,” a statement from the curriculum development unit of the Ministry noted.

Recently the book became the first Zimbabwean publication to be presented to all African presidents at the 27th AU Summit that was held between in Rwanda.

The African Book of Records also got thumbs up from the African Union with the bloc’s chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma saying, “This historic publication is a wonderful piece of intellect, education, reference and inspiration”.

President Robert Mugabe was presented with a copy of the publication in May 2016 by its founder and editor-in-chief Kwame Muzawazi.

President Mugabe is also featured in the publication as one of the 10 greatest African political leaders of all time.

Muzawazi is founder of the Book of African Records.

In 2010, he became the first black man to cross African continent by road on a study tour across 21 countries, which feat saw him being awarded diplomatic status by Government. He was the first Zimbabwean registered in the Guinness World Records for the longest lecturer, which lasted 121 hours in 2009.

The Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education selected him as 2009 Best Foreign Student in Poland out of 17 000 international students at Polish universities for his work in cultural diplomacy and counteracting stereotypes on Africa.

In 2011, he was voted as one of the ‘ Ten Outstanding Young Zimbabweans,’ by JCI International.
