Comedy enthusiasts are in for a treat tonight as Simuka Comedy presents the “Legends of Comedy” show at the Book Cafe. The show’s line up is made up of star comedians that include Seb Diesel, Long John, Michael K, Simba the Comic King, Edgar Langeveldt.
Event organiser Simba The Comic said the show is meant to celebrate pioneers of the Zimbabwean comedy.

“The show is dubbed “The Legends of Comedy” because it is meant to showcase the people that inspired the comedy movement that we see now and the forerunners of the industry are Edgar Langeveldt and Michael K,” he said

Simba also said they are expecting people to come in their numbers to laugh their lungs out during the show.

“The two comedians have not performed together on the same stage for the past five or so years so tomorrow (today) we will see them bring back the magic they used to cast on stage.

“We are encouraging our fans to come and have fun with us,” he said.

Michael K said the show will rekindle love with his fans and is ready for the night.

“I am promising endless jokes at the show and it is going to be legendary since I will be sharing the stage with a man who introduced me into comedy. It will be one show that will never be forgotten,” he said.

Langeveldt uses satire to deal with subjects as contrarieties, social abuses and social injustices.

In 2005, he was honoured with a Prince Claus Award from the Netherlands within the theme humour and satire, for his role as a stand-up comedian. As a singer he won the Carnivore Lyrics Contest in 2011.

Simuka Comedy is a collaboration of popular and emerging comedians who develop, promote and present comedies. The event was founded in 2011 by Simba the Comic King and Doc Vikela.
