CHITUNGWIZA Aquatic Complex comes to life this Friday when it hosts more than 40 Zimdancehall musicians during the Sunshine Riddim launch. The Sunshine Riddim was released a fortnight ago and has seen some Zimdancehall fans receiving free copies of the CDs carrying the riddim during an event held in the city centre. Sunshine Studios produced the riddim.

Event organiser Samuel Saungweme said preparations for the event are almost complete with his team putting final touches at the show venue.
“Preparations are at an advanced stage and we have put almost everything in place. There is a team that is working tirelessly on the ground to make sure that everything goes according to script.

“We have put in place security measures that ensure that artistes and fans are protected during the show.
“I am sure that this is the first time to have such a launch and it is our mandate that we give fans the best during the show.
“We will be giving away free CDs carrying the riddim to first 500 people that will enter into the venue,” he said.

Saungweme also encouraged fans at the album launch to shun violence.
He said the launch is aimed at promoting the artistes and the local music industry in general.

“This is a show aimed at taking the music to the people and at the same time promoting the musicians.
“It is quite saddening to realise that Zimdancehall is now being associated with violence which has become common at shows.
“That alone destroys the music industry and such behaviour must stop,” he said.

The launch will see musicians like Killer T, Kinna, Freeman, Jay C, Sniper Storm, Princo Spice and Chitungwiza-bred chanter Guspy Warrior – son to gospel veteran Machanic Manyeruke – taking to the stage.
Female chanters Lady Squander, Lipsy and Lady B are also expected to perform during the launch.
